Franklin, NC -James Clinton Smith, 90, of Franklin, NC passed away Monday, June 30, 2014. A native of Macon County, he was the son of the late Dalton E. and Myrtle Roper Smith. He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Audrey Bowman Smith.

His labor of love were his Lord, his family and his church. He was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother. He loved music, woodworking, and playing stringed instruments. Mr. Smith was a member of Burningtown Baptist Church where he was Choir Director, Deacon and Sunday School Superintendent.

He is survived by two daughters, Linda Mae Smith and Brenda Smith Thorn and her husband Steve all of Franklin; two sons, James Steven Smith and his wife Vicky and Roy Everett Smith and his wife Lori all of Franklin; two sisters, Bessie Ray of Oregon and Nettie Smith of Asheville and one brother, Lon Smith of Franklin; eleven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by a brother, Odell Smith.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 3, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Burningtown Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Drinnon, Rev. Jim Kinard and Rev. Frank Rodriguez officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons and his son in law. Deacons of Burningtown Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 8:00 pm at Bryant Grant Funeral Home, where the body will remain until being placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service.

The family would like to thank Angel Hospice, Angel Medical Center, and Lincare for their care and support.
