James Steven Smith

James Steven Smith, 65, of Franklin passed away Friday, April 29, 2016.  Born in Oakland County, MI he was the son of the late James Clinton and Audrey Bowman Smith.

Mr. Smith was a truck driver and local mechanic; he was a veteran of the U. S. Navy serving during Vietnam as a Navy Seal and a member of Special Forces Team 4; he was a member of Burningtown Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Vickie H. Smith; one daughter, Amanda Smith Estes (Bryan) of Franklin; four sons, James Smith, John Smith (Karen), James L. Smith and Steve Smith all of Franklin; two sisters, Linda Smith and Brenda Thorn (Steve) all of Franklin; one brother, Roy Smith (Lori) of Franklin; three grandchildren, Danny Estes, Julia Estes and Davon Jeter; his mother‑in‑law, Correna Hooper, and sisters‑in‑law, Peggy Hannah, Janet Reed and Gail Dills and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Sunday, May 8, 2016 at 3:00 pm in the chapel of Bryant‑Grant Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Kinard, Rev. Frank Rodriguez and Rev. Randy Drinnon officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:30 ‑ 3:00 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
