Jerry Lee Patton, Sr

Franklin, NC - Jerry Lee Patton, Sr., age 69, of Marietta, GA formerly of Franklin, passed away November 14, 2011. Born in Macon County, he was the son of the late Carey B. Patton, Sr. and the late Gertrude Cunningham Patton. He was married to Lynn West Patton who died in 2010. He was retired from Immigration and Naturalization Service and served with the Federal Drug Task Force. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during the Cuban Crisis and he loved hiking the Appalachian Trail, genealogy, history, especially the Civil War, and Indian artifacts. Jerry was a Boy Scout leader for several years and coached little league baseball.

He is survived by a daughter, Alicia Reed and husband Chad of Marietta, GA; a son, Jerry Lee Patton of Marietta, GA; four brothers, Joe Patton and companion Margaret of Wimberley, TX, Richard Patton of Marietta, GA, Howard Patton of Panama City Beach, FL and Carey Patton, Jr. and wife Nancy of Franklin, NC and two grandchildren, Shelby and Wyatt Reed. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca Lynn Patton, a sister, Novell Patton and a brother, Claybourne Patton.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, November 19, 2011 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Bryant-Grant Funeral Home with Rev. Vic Greene and Rev. Janet Greene officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 am, one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
