Jimmy Floyd Kirby

Jimmy Floyd Kirby, 89, passed away Wednesday, November 13, 2024. Jimmy was born August 26, 1935, in Clay County, NC to the late Henry Kirby and Flora L. Kirby.

He is survived by his daughters, Deborah Bruce, Cindy Hensley, Jennifer Turnmire, and Heather Hensley; eleven grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and his little dog, Bella.

In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Kirby; a son, Timothy Kirby; two brothers, Howell Kirby and Fred Kirby; a sister, Thelma Davenport; and a grandson, Phillip McClure.

A member of Soul's Harbor Tabernacle Church of Dallas, NC, Mr. Kirby was a hardworking man who believed in God and family. Jimmy worked as a mechanic and particularly enjoyed working on old cars and tractors. He loved to be outside, either working on something, or just walking around. Sometimes he would just walk all the way to town and back. You could also find him at the Cotton Ginning days every year; walking and checking out the old tractors, "Just made his day." He never met strangers, everywhere he went he would ask, "Do you know Jesus? Keep looking up. He's coming back."

A funeral service will be held Sunday, November 17, 2024, at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel of Hayesville, NC at 2:00 PM. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM prior to the service. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
