John Riley Cantrell, Sr.

Mr. John Riley Cantrell, Sr., 85, of Franklin, NC, passed away Saturday, May 11, 2024. He was born March 1, 1939, in Anderson County, SC to the late William Cantrell and Betty Welborn Cantrell.

Mr. Cantrell is survived by his wife, Kaye Cantrell, a son, John Cantrell, Jr., a daughter, Michelle Cantrell, two brothers, Franklin Cantrell and Morris Cantrell, a sister, Sarah Stucki, and five grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ken Cantrell.

John served his country with 22 years of service in the U.S. Navy as a CPO Submariner. He was a true patriot and loved his country. He excelled as a businessman in real estate and was very intelligent when it came to business. John loved sailing out in the ocean and enjoyed riding motorcycles. He also like to read about the Navy and the US Constitution.
