John Lloyd Deitz

Franklin, NC - John Lloyd Deitz, 84, of Franklin, NC, gently went to sleep in death Sunday, October 12, 2014. He is survived by his sister, Phyllis Hayes, and her husband Charles, and by his children, Cynthia, Treva, Debra, Renee and his adopted son, Clyde. He also had 17 grandchildren, at least 25 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. In addition to his many grandchildren, John adopted many who proudly and lovingly called him Granddad. He was a dearly loved brother, friend, and father who will be missed by all who knew him.

Although he owned a food and dairy service business for years, John's secular work certainly did not define who he was. He had developed a deep love of the Bible and his Creator, Jehovah God, which moved him to volunteer a tremendous amount of time to his public ministry. This ministry led him to meet a wide variety of people whom he called friends. His humility and mild temper made him easy to talk to and a friend to most he met.

John's public ministry and volunteer work for the Jehovah's Witness faith took him from Florida to New York and even as far as South America. He loved to get in his truck and travel. Once established in Franklin in 1992, there was not a road in Macon County he did not travel or know the name of.

John held a firm belief in the Bible's promise of a paradise earth governed by God and Jesus. He often used the well known "Lord's Prayer" at Matthew 6:9,10 to share his hope of living on an earth where God's will is done, as it is in heaven. That is where he eagerly expected to awaken from death and enjoy life as it is meant to be.

A memorial service for John will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at 1:00 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 564 Prentiss Bridge Road, Franklin, NC. There will be no collections, only services for the deceased. If you knew John, his family would greatly appreciate your attendance.
