John Francis Johnson

John F Johnson, 77, of Franklin, North Carolina formerly of Hutchinson, Minnesota passed away Thursday, July 9th 2015.

Born in Minnesota, he was the son of Oscar and Sophie Johnson. John graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1956. He attended St. John’s University for one year and he served in the Army for three years. He worked at Sears in Hutchinson for twenty years. He also worked at Lowe’s in Franklin, North Carolina for ten years.

He loved fishing, hunting and watching Duke Basketball games. He also was a fan of the Minnesota Vikings and Atlanta Braves.

John married Winnie (Mattsfield) Peterson on March 30 1974‑ they lived in Hutchinson, Bokeelia, Florida and Franklin, North Carolina.

John is survived by his wife of 41 years, Winnie Johnson; two sons, Brad (Joan) Peterson of Corpus Christi, Texas and Kevin  (Lori) Peterson of Glencoe, Minnesota; one daughter, Kathy (Garry) McKinney of Franklin, North Carolina; nine grandchildren; 10 great‑grandchildren; one great‑great‑grandchild and sisters‑in‑law, Marion (Edwin) Doring and Phyllis Bacon.

He is preceded in death by his mother (Sophia) and father (Oscar) Johnson; his mother and father‑in‑law, Linda and Norbert Mattsfield; one grandson, Quinton Hawes; two daughters, Renda Peterson Smith and Colleen Peterson Field, and one brother‑in‑law, Bill Bacon.

Memorial will be held at a later date. He will be greatly missed.
