Franklin, NC - John "Jr." Wilson, age 67, of Franklin, NC, passed away Thursday, December 6, 2012 as the result of a car accident. He was born in Macon County, the son of the late John Riley Wilson and Pauline Kimsey Wilson. He was married to the late Joanne Wiggins Wilson. He was a Veteran of the US Army, serving during Vietnam, and received two Purple Hearts. He had worked as a shipping clerk for Carsten Motor Freightline. He was a very active member of Cartoogechaye Church of God, where he served as an usher. He was a very loving brother and liked to fish.

He is survived by three sisters, Vonnie Carpenter of Edenton, NC; Bernice Bates and Mary Lou Farmer both of Franklin, NC; four brothers, Edward Wilson, Charles Wilson, and James Wilson all of Franklin, NC and Landie Wilson of Cameron, SC; several nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Mack Wilson.

Funeral services will be held Monday, December 10th at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Bryant-Grant Funeral Home, with Rev. Phillip Cochran and Rev. Robert Dryman officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Robert Baty, Jerry Anderson, Chris McCall, John Paul McCall, Jonathan Wilson and Aaron Mellies. The American Legion Post #108 and Franklin VFW Post #7339 will conduct military graveside rites.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Sunday evening at Bryant-Grant Funeral Home.
