John Robert Smith

John Robert Smith, 76, went to be with the Lord on March 22, 2019.  Mr. Smith was born in Rabun County, Georgia on May 18, 1942 to the late Lester and Izebell Smith.  He was known as a loving family man.  He enjoyed planting a garden every year.  He enjoyed spending time fishing.  Mr. Smith could also be found at home reading a good western book.  He also liked western shows and movies and was an avid sports fan as well.  He attended Dryman’s Chapel United Methodist Church.

John Smith is survived by his wife, Linda Smith.  In addition to his wife he is survived by two daughters, Lynn Burch (Rodney) of Franklin and Tina Wiggins (Jamie) of Otto; two grandchildren Justin Burch (Alex) and Leann Burch; one great-grandchild, Kevin Burch; seven sisters, Llewllyn Thompson of Canton, Georgia, Rosialee Page of Clayton, GA, Hazel Talley (Randolph) of Mountain City, GA. Reba Towe (Archie) of West Union, SC, Bonnie Ammons (Sherill) of Sylva, NC, Alice Tallent (Greg) of Johnson City, TN, Sue Wilkerson (Donnie) of Lakemont, GA; three brothers, Cecil Smith of Clayton, GA, Jim Smith (Lynn) of Clayton, GA, and Tim Smith (Shelia) of Clayton, GA; a special niece, Diana Davis, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Robert Kevin Smith; two sisters Dorothy Bush and Linda Fay Smith and two brothers J.C. Smith and Lawrence Smith. The family will have a visitation at Bryant Grant Funeral Home on Sunday, March 24, 2019 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm.  A private memorial service will be held at a later date.  Online condolences can be made a www.bryantgrantfuneralhome.com.  Bryant Grant Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the Smith family.
