Jon Thorpe Earp

Jon Thorpe Earp, 80, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2023.

Jon was born in Des Moines, Iowa, to the late Thorpe and Hazel Earp on December 27, 1942.  The family moved to Sarasota, Florida in 1951 where Jon was involved in all sports, especially Sarasota County Little League.  He graduated from Sarasota High in 1961 and then enlisted in the United States Navy from 1961 to 1964.  Jon was a superintendent for Gulf Contracting in Sarasota, until moving with his family to Highlands, NC in 1979, where he continued his carpentry business, Carpentry Unlimited.  Jon loved building, fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family.

Jon is survived by his wife of 56 years, Kay Calhoun Earp, two children, Kristy (Edward) of Highlands, NC and Kevin (Jane) of Scaly Mtn., NC.  Four grandchildren, (Kaitlin, Kenan, James, and Katie), and one brother, Steve (Patti) of Venice, FL.
