Joseph Ralph Pippio

Franklin, NC - Joseph Ralph Pippio, age 74, of Franklin, NC passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at his residence. He was born in Manhattan, NY, the son of the late John E. Pippio and Theodora Lombardi Pippio. He was US Marine Veteran. He owned and operated Arnolds Restaurant and was also an aircraft mechanic. He was a member of the Franklin VFW Post # 7339, the American Legion Post #108 and was the founding member of the Marine Corp League #973 and 1st commandant. Mr. Pippio collected Civil War Memorabilia.

He is survived by three sons, Tim Pippio and his wife, Noreen of Warner Robins, GA, Brian Pippio of Sylva, NC and John Pippio and his wife, Suzy of Franklin, NC; former wife, June; five grandchildren, Melissa, Jamey, Patrick, Emily and Ella Pippio; two brothers, Ed Pippio of Deland, FL and Mike Pippio of Palm Coast, FL. He was preceded in death by a brother, Phil Pippio.

Memorial services will be held Sunday, September 11 at 2:00PM at the American Legion Post #108 with the Chaplain Bob Slicer officiating. The American Legion Post #108 and the Franklin VFW Post #7339 and the Marine Corp League will perform full military rites.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Franklin VFW and American Legion Funeral Detail, c/o Neal Riendeau, 1155 N. Skeenah Road, Franklin, NC 28734.
