Joseph "Joe" Troy Swafford

Mr. Joseph "Joe" Troy Swafford, 78, of Franklin, NC, passed away Thursday, May 16, 2024. He was born August 16, 1945, to the late William Swafford and Lottie Roper Swafford.

Mr. Swafford is survived by his wife of 59 years, Gladys Swafford, his daughters, Becky Brown (Brian) and Deanna Mercer (Oscar) of Franklin; six grandchildren Jacob Brown (Annie), Tahaven Locklear, Sahanna Smith, Miracle Smith, Annalise Jones, and Oliva Mercer; two sisters, Martha Odom and Gladys Rowland (Johnny), and a brother, Lee Swafford (Millie).

He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Sue Leach, and three brothers, James Swafford, Sammy Swafford, and Carl Swafford.

Mr. Swafford was member of Cartoogechaye Church of God. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and woodworking.

A funeral service will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, May 19, 2024, at Cartoogechaye Church of God with Rev. Aaron Bridges, Rev. Robert Dryman, and Rev. Phillip Cochran officiating. Burial will follow at Tippett Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 till 3:00 PM prior to the service at the church. Pallbearers will be Charlie Williamson, Chet Williamson, Rocky Williamson, Bobby Parrish, and Scott Demby.
