Judith Kay (Patterson) Mcconnell

Judith Kay McConnell, 80, of Otto, passed away July 14, 2017 surrounded by her loving family.  She was the daughter of the late David and Lois Patterson.  Mrs. McConnell was born in Anderson, Indiana.  She later moved to Oviedo, Florida where she worked as a secretary for many years.  She moved to Macon County in 2015.  She loved spending time with her family and had a special love for animals of all kinds.  Her family recalls her almost never being without one of her furry friends.

She is survived by her husband James McConnell.  In addition, she is survived by two daughters, Donna McConnell and Amanda Wright (Steve); a son Nathan Smathers (Lorie); Grandchildren Rachael Smathers, Tara Smathers, Jeremiah Smathers, Chani Hand, Jesse Marske, Starla Smathers, Madison Seigfried, Chase Seigfried, and Great grandchildren Jayden Marske, Adah May Marske, Kyle Hand, Dylan Smathers, and Nolan Smathers.  She was preceded in death by Dodie McConnell and Debbie Blackwell.

A private service is being held for the family.  In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Appalachian Animal Rescue Center at 851 Lake Emory Rd, Franklin, NC 28734 or am animal shelter of their choice.
