Otto, NC - Kyle Haskell Payne, 81, of Otto passed away Monday, April 1, 2013. Born in Macon County, he was the son of the late Clay and Belle Arvey Payne. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, serving during the Korean War. He was employed by NC Department of Transportation for 30 years. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Mr. Payne loved farming, raising cattle and mowing the lawn; spoiling his grandchildren, and tinkering in his garage. He was of the Methodist faith.
Mr. Payne is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marilyn Henson Payne; one son, Kyle Kevin Payne of Otto; one sister, Hazel Stamey of Franklin; one granddaughter, Alyson Payne and one grandson, Kyle Ethan Payne.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Melanie Elaine Payne.
Funeral services will be held, Friday, April 5, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Asbury United Methodist Church with Rev. Janet Greene, Rev. Vic Greene and Aaron Duncan officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Franklin VFW Post #7339 and American Legion Post #108 will perform full military graveside rites. The family will receive friends, Thursday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 pm, at Bryant-Grant Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Asbury Cemetery Fund, c/o Alan Vinson, PO Box 113, Otto, NC 28763.
