Ms. Lacy L. Chavis Scott

Franklin, NC, Milledgeville, GA - Ms. Lacy L. Chavis Scott was born on June 23, 1932, in Franklin, NC, to the parentage of the late Mr. Leander and Mrs. Elizabeth Stewart Chavis. "Big Mama", as Ms. Lacy L. Chavis Scott was often called.

She was a loving and caring person. She leaves a legacy of love and cherished memories to: three daughters, Ms. Anne E. Penland Dixon, Gordon, GA; Ms. Mary O. (Howard) Dixon, Ms. Susan D. Harper all from Milledgeville, GA; two sons, Mr. William Penland III, Cleveland, OH, and Mr. Ronald L. (Julia) Penland, Greenville, SC; one brother, Fleetwood (Beatrice) Chavis, Franklin, NC and a host of three generations of grandchildren, cousins, a very devoted son in law, Mr. Joseph Dixon; two devoted friends, Ms. Dorothy Cooper, Ms. Rosetta Stubbs, and a devoted caregiver, Ms. Lameka Pitts Gray. She was educated in the Macon County School System, Franklin, NC.

In her later years, she moved to Milledgeville, GA. She was employed at Central State Hospital for 33 ½ years as a Health Service Technician Lead. After retirement, she worked at Green Acres Nursing Facility.

A celebration of life for Ms. Scott will be held Friday, October, 24, 2014 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Bryant Grant Funeral Home with Reverend Robert I. Coleman officiating.
