Larry Ray Brannan

Larry R. Brannan, 92, of Highlands, North Carolina, passed away October 10, 2026, at Highlands Medical Center.

Larry R. Brannan was born June 15, 1934, in Wichita, Kansas to Clara M. and Ralph C, Brannan. Larry was in the US Navy prior to receiving his Engineering degree from New Mexico College of Agriculture and Mechanical Arts (now New Mexico State University). He married the love of his life, Cherie Anne Aynes on October 25, 1962, Larry worked his entire career for Lockheed Martin. He and Cherie enjoyed their time in Scotland, California and Summerville, South Carolina where Larry retired. Larry and Cherie loved to travel and one of their favorite trips was a trip around the world after his work assignment in Scotland was finished. In 1997, they moved to Highlands, NC where they enjoyed being a part of the community. Larry spent many hours at Mountain Findings. He enjoyed repairing items that came in that just needed some TLC prior to being sold. Larry was a great craftsman and photographer and spent many hours in his workshop and taking pictures on their travels and around the Highlands area. He was a loving husband, and great friend to those he met along the way. He stayed in touch and traveled, when possible, to see friends and family. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Cherie Brannan in 2022 (after 60 years of marriage); brothers, Earl Brannan, Ralph K. Brannan, David Brannan, sisters Jolene Brannan and J. Carole Richards. He is survived by his brother Carl Lee Brannan (Nita) of Carlsbad, and sister Joyce A. Berryman of Harrisonburg, VA, many nieces and nephews.
