Lelia "Linda" Onita (Wiggins) Ries

Lelia "Linda" Onita Ries, 88, of Franklin, NC passed away on Monday, December 26, 2016. She was born in Glenville, NC, the daughter of the late Ellis and Mollie Green Wiggins.

Mrs. Ries was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She attended Mt. Hope Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Don M. Ries, with whom she celebrated 70 years of marriage on November 11th; one son, Donald Wayne Ries (Theresa) of Glen Burnie, MD; two grandchildren, D'Artagnan Ries (Dawn) and Victoria "Vicki" Bnaity (Michael); three great‑grandchildren, Sarah and Justin Ries and George Ellis Bnaity; six sisters, Odessa Fields, Louise Chapman, Betty Bryson (Harold), Geraldine Vanriper, Vetrice Murphy (Billy) and Bertha Morgan Neal; one brother, Rev. Jimmy Wiggins (Lois) and several nieces and nephews and great‑nieces and great‑nephews.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Wiggins and a brother, Lloyd Wiggins.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, December 29, 2016 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Bryant‑Grant Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Steve Reeves and Rev. Jimmy Wiggins officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 ‑ 2:00 pm, prior to the service, at the funeral home.
