Lillie Virgina Chastain Crisp

Franklin, NC - Lillie Virgina Chastain Crisp was born in Highlands, North Carolina on July 25, 1929. She was the daughter of the late Daniel Edward and Nettie Keener Chastain. Lillie met and married Claude John Crisp on July 24, 1948. As a young married couple they lived on Peeks Creek. They moved to Manassas, Virginia in 1954 for her husband to work in construction and the in 1981 they returned to the Peeks Creek Community of Franklin, North Carolina to live out their retirement.

Lillie was a woman who loved her family and was very proud of her three children, Robert Crisp of Franklin, NC; LaVern Fritter of Martinsville, VA and Linda Skinner of Webster, NC. She also loved her home and took pride in providing for her family by gardening, freezing, canning and cooking three meals a day. She was an excellent "country" cook and was always willing to provide a meal for a friend in need, bake a cobbler in return for a favor or offer food to anyone who happened to stop by.

While living in Virginia she was a member of Woodbine Baptist Church, serving as a Sunday School and Bible School teacher; on the Communion Committee; as a Leader for ACTEENS and Girls in Action. As a current member of Pine Grove Baptist Church, she enjoyed her Ladies Sunday School class, serving on the Prayer Chain and working with the Hospitality Committee.

At the age of 83, on Friday, October 26, 2012 at 7:52am, Lillie went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

In addition to her three children, she is survived by one Son-in-law, Joseph Fritter; two sisters: Janice Chastain Watts (and husband John) and Louise Chastain Smith; six Grandchildren: Paul, Angie, Anna, Brian, Annette and Charidy; and eight great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her Parents; her Husband of 52 years; her Son-in-law, David Skinner; three Brothers: Tom, Carl and Fred Chastain; and one sister, Pearl Chastain Wild.

Funeral services will be held Monday, October 29, 2012 at 11:00am at Pine Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Greg Rogers officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Paul Crisp, Brian Crisp, Mark Washburn, Wade Smith, Woody McConnell and Justin Perkins. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00 - 8:00pm at Bryant-Grant Funeral Home where the body will remain until being placed in the church thirty minutes prior to the service.
