Franklin, NC - Lloyd George Waldroop, age 90, of West Old Murphy Rd, Franklin, NC died Thursday, October 21, 2010 in a local care center. A native of Macon Co, he was the son of the late Jake Samuel and Bertha Nicholson Waldroop. He was married to the late Imojean Shell Waldroop who died in 2003. He was a member of Maidens Chapel Methodist Church and a farmer. He was a US Army Veteran of World War II; was recipient of two Purple Hearts; a Bronze Star and was past Commander of Franklin VFW Post 7339.
He is survived by one son, Donald Waldroop and wife Juanita of Franklin, NC; one sister Iona Fie of Waynesville, NC and three grandchildren, Samuel Lloyd Waldroop, James Wayne Waldroop and Lacey Jean Waldroop. One great-grandchild also survives.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 24, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bryant-Grant Funeral Home with Rev. Sherron O. Geiger officiating. The Franklin VFW Post 7339 and American Legion Post 108 will conduct full military rites. Burial will be in Maidens Chapel Methodist Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday, October 23, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bryant-Grant Funeral Home.
