Loenella McCall, age 83, of Franklin, North Carolina, passed away on Sunday, July 5, 2026. She is now in heaven and has gained her heavenly wings.

Born on August 12, 1942, in Macon County, she was the daughter of the late John Wilburn McCall and Lillie Belle Roper McCall.

Loenella was a member of Black Mountain Baptist Church. She dedicated many years of service to the plant nursery industry before retiring.

Loenella had a deep love for the mountains where she grew up and for the beauty of God’s creation. She found peace and joy in being outdoors and spending time in nature. She enjoyed reading, gardening, visiting flea markets, and antiquing. An avid animal lover, she especially adored her cats.

Above all, Loenella was devoted to her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose greatest joy was spending time with those she loved. She shared an especially close bond with her granddaughter, Shay Holcombe, whom she raised. Family was very important to her.

She is survived by her children, Vincent Bates (Kathy), Sonya Green, and Terry Green; her grandchildren, Shay Holcombe (Brett), Ashland Bates, Justen Crunkleton (Sally), and Autumn Crunkleton; many beloved great-grandchildren; her sisters, Mary Ann McCall and Sharon Mason; and her brother, Donald Mason.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Barbara Sue McCall and Virginia McCall; and her brothers, Johnny Leon McCall, Douglas Mason, and Ricky Mason.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date for family and close friends to honor and remember Loenella’s life.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude for the love and support shown during this difficult time.
