Margaret "Maggie" Ellen Mason

Franklin, NC - Margaret "Maggie" Ellen Mason, age 89, of Franklin, NC passed away Saturday, August 21, 2010 at a local nursing home. She was a native of Macon County, the daughter of the late William C. and Sallie Garland Ledbetter. She was married to James Mason who passed away in 1984. She was the manager of Franklin 5 & 10 cent store and was a member of Coweeta Baptist Church where she served as Church Clerk for 28 years. She loved to be outside gardening.

She is survived by three nephews, Barry Bateman, Bill VanHook, Toby Bateman; five nieces, Karen Keener, Betty Dowdle, Beverly VanHook-Schrey, Marcia Bateman and Sally Vinson. A number of other nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Blanche Bateman, Addie L. VanHook and a half-sister, Charlotte Henderson; one brother, Woodrow Ledbetter, three half-brothers, Clarence Ledbetter, Gerald Ledbetter and Rob Ledbetter.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 24 at 11:00 AM at Coweeta Baptist Church with Rev. Davis Hooper officiating. Burial will be held at Rush Cemetery. Hilary Schrey, Darren Keener, Brandon Keener, Joshua Hunter, Billy VanHook and James VanHook. will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends Monday, August 23 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Bryant-Grant Funeral Home where the body will remain until placed in the Church thirty minutes prior to service.
