Marie Rogers Tilson

Gastonia - Marie Rogers Tilson, age 101, died peacefully on October 21, 2013 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center.
A native of Macon, County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Dock M. and Emma Watson Rogers.
She was the oldest living member of Buck Creek Baptist Church in Highlands, NC and worked as a seamstress.
The family will receive friends Wednesday night from 6:00-8:00PM at McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, at Buck Creek Baptist Church in Highlands, NC with Reverends Randall Rogers and Jamie Pasemore officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 1:00-2:00 .

Survivors include her son, Virlyn Tilson and wife, Shirley of Gastonia; daughters, Della Blanton and husband, Waddell of Kings Mountain, Virginia Weatherford of Asheville; grandchildren: Pam Long, Randy Tilson, Tim Tilson, Jeff Blanton and her special boy, Todd Blanton; great grandchildren; Kenya Tilson, Brittany Long, Blake Long, Luke Blanton and Jeffrey McCrorey; brother, Rev. Randall Rogers and his wife, Chris; sisters, Shelby Bankston and husband, Rich, and Mildred Woods; numerous nieces and nephews; special friends and neighbors, Daphine and Garland Rhyne, Melissa and Gordon Tomberlin and their children, and Danny and Anita Baker.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley W. Tilson; grandson, Bobby Weatherford; brother, Eldon Rogers and sister, Geneva Moss.

The family wishes to express a special thanks to the nurses and staff of the PICU Unit at CaroMont Regional Medical Center.
