Mary Newman Mccoy

Appomattox VA - Mary Newman McCoy, 69, of Appomattox, VA, passed away Thursday, June 28, 2012 at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of Billy Bruce McCoy.

Born June 18, 1943 in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late Floyd Irvine Newman and Lucile Carwile LaForce. She was a retired school teacher with the Macon County School System, Franklin, NC for 20 years and was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Naruna, VA. Mrs. McCoy was a graduate of Mars Hill College, Mars Hill, NC and a member of the Daughters of the Confederacy and the Daughters of the American Revolution.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. McCoy is survived by her daughter, Susan M. Clark and her husband, Chad of Franklin; two sons, David P. McCoy and his wife, Araceli of El Paso, TX and Joel McCoy and his wife, Heather of Franklin; one sister, Shelby N. Huff of Appomattox, VA

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Appomattox Rescue Squad.
