Franklin, NC - Mary Frances Palmer, 91, of Franklin, NC passed away Thursday, May 15, 2014. Born in Clay County, she was the daughter of the late Hobert and Annie Ledford Patterson. She was married to Bruce Palmer who died in 1990.
She was employed by The Twins Shop for 50 years and was a member of First United Methodist Church. She was a loving mother and grandmother who loved to garden and loved flowers; she also enjoyed cooking and traveling.

Mrs. Palmer is survived by one son, LTC(R) Gary S. Palmer and wife Kathleen of Carrboro, NC; a daughter in law, Sandra Palmer of Loganville, GA; one brother, Wade Patterson of Roswell, GA; four grandchildren, Allison, Eric, Rebecca Jane, and Brian and one great grandchild, Roxie Jane. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Palmer was preceded in death by a son, LTC James Edward Palmer and a grandson, Jason.

Funeral services will be held, Saturday, May 24, 2014 at 3:00 pm at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Margaret Freeman officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kevin Patterson, Brian Palmer, Clarence Woody, Charles Roper, Allison Hernandez, and Johnny Palmer.

The family will receive friends Saturday, from 2:00 3:00 pm, one hour prior to the service, at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First United Methodist Church Building Fund, 66 Harrison Avenue, Franklin, NC 28734 or Wounded Warrior Project, 3343 Peachtree Road, NE #M20, Atlanta, GA 30326 or Fidelia Eckerd Living Center, PO Box 190, Highlands, NC 28741.
