Mary Alice Wilson

Franklin, NC - Mary Alice Wilson, age 84, of Franklin, NC, passed away Tuesday, November 18, 2008 in a local hospital. She was a native of Macon County, the daughter of the late Sam and Mattie Marie Sorrells Hopkins. She was married to the late Cecil William Wilson, Sr. who passed away February, 1984. She was a homemaker and enjoyed flowers and gardening. She was a member of Windy Gap Baptist Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Tammy Wilson of Franklin, NC; two sons, Cecil Wilson, Jr. and his wife Mary of Greenville, SC, and Owen Wilson of North Pole, Alaska; two sisters, Etta Tallent of Franklin, NC and Lucille Potts of Greenville, SC; two brothers, John D. "Jay" Hopkins and Ralph Hopkins both of Franklin, NC; eleven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Wilson Barnard and four brothers.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 21st at 2:30pm in the Chapel of Bryant-Grant Funeral Home, with Rev. Mark Bishop officiating. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bobby Peak, Clay Vinson, Willie Houston, Stanley Hopkins, Brandon Penland, and Andrew Jacobs, alternate Matthew Owens. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30, one hour prior to the service Friday at Bryant-Grant Funeral Home.
