Mattie Lavina (Vaughn) Cabe

Mattie Lavina Vaughn Cabe, age 97, of Hendersonville, NC, went home to be with her Lord, Sunday, July 19, 2015.  She was born in Macon County, the daughter of the late Wesley and Lucy (Lou) Belle Moss Vaughn.  She was married to the late Edgar Cabe.

Mrs. Cabe had retired from Wellington Puritan Mills; she was a member of Crab Creek Baptist Church.  She loved quilting, gardening, canning, freezing, and making jams and jellies.  She loved her family and her family loved her.

She is survived by three daughters, Margie Keener, Rosa Lee Hopkins both of Franklin, NC and Gertrude Miller of Hendersonville, NC; five grandchildren, Cecilia Hopkins Teem (Ricky), Janet Hopkins Toms (Rick), Wayne Miller (GiGi), Darrell Miller (Angie) and Chris Miller; nine great‑grandchildren, four great‑great‑grandchildren, one step‑great‑granddaughter, and one step‑great‑grandson, one niece and four nephews also survive.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sons‑in‑law, James Keener, Ralph Hopkins, and Wymer Miller; a brother, Clyde J. Vaughn and his wife Mildred, and one step‑great‑granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 22nd at 2:30 pm at Crab Creek Baptist Church in Hendersonville, with Rev. Brad Knox and Rev. Guy Smith officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1:00 ‑ 2:15 pm, prior to the service at the church.  Burial will take place Thursday, July 23rd at 11:00 am at Buck Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.  Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.
