Maybelle Chastain Neely

Highlands, NC - Maybelle Chastain Neely, age 93, of Clear Creek Community, Highlands, NC passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at Fidelia-Eckerd Nursing Home.

She was a native of Macon County, the daughter of the late David E. and Ada Bryson Chastain. She was married to the late James Philo Neely, who passed away in 1963. She was a homemaker, a loving mother and a granny to all. She loved to have visitors and loved gardening. She was a member of Clear Creek Baptist Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Kathryn Neely Vaughn and her husband, Randall of Grayson, GA; two sons, James Crawford Neely and Carl Edward Neely both of Highlands; one sister, Carrie Crain of Highlands; nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by a son, William Philo Neely, three sisters, and three brothers.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 17, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Clear Creek Baptist Church, with Rev. Zane Talley, Rev. Oliver Rice, Rev. Walter Wilson and Rev. Everett Brewer officiating.

Burial will be in the Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Darwin Vaughn, Derrick Vaughn, Dwayne Vaughn, Matthew Neely, Edison Neely, and Vaughn Neely. The family will receive friends Thursday, July 16th from 7:00-9:00 PM in the Chapel of Bryant-Grant Funeral Home in Highlands.
