Maye Fleming Anderson

Franklin, NC - Maye Fleming Anderson, 97, died May 2, 2008 at Summit Place of Beaufort, SC. Mrs. Anderson was born in Beaufort, SC, a daughter of the late William Matthew and Annie Edna Phillips Fleming. Mrs. Anderson was a homemaker and a member of St. Agnes Episcopal Church in Franklin, NC and a former member of the Parish Church of St. Helena in Beaufort. Mrs. Maye enjoyed devoting her times as a volunteer at both churches and established the Jr. Altar Guild at St. Helena Episcopal Church. She started a support group for the blind in Macon County, NC and was a member of the Daughters of the King at St. Agnes Episcopal Church in Franklin, NC.

Mrs. Anderson is predeceased by her husband, Joseph Shilling Anderson and a son, Fleming Murphy Anderson.

She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Marion Anderson of Beaufort; a grandson, Guy Joseph Anderson of Beaufort; a granddaughter, Patricia Anderson Jones of Beaufort; a niece, Roberta Hodges of Guyton, GA; five great-grandchildren and ten great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, May 15, 2008 at St. Agnes Episcopal Church in Franklin, NC. Inurnment will follow at St. John’s in The Wilderness. A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, May 8, 2008 at the Parish Church of St. Helena in Beaufort. Copeland Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
