Mitchell Bates

Franklin, NC - Mitchell Bates, age 52, of Franklin, NC passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2012. Born in Macon County he was the son of Maybelle Guffey Bates of Franklin, NC and the late George "Bo" Bates. He was married to Debbie Bateman Bates for 28 years. He was a personal care assistant at Grandview Manor for 31 years and attended East Franklin Baptist Church.

In addition to his mother and wife, Mitchell is survived by one son, Lee Bates of Franklin, NC; three sisters, Ann Dills, Sherry Boeshears and Sarah Bryson all of Franklin, NC; two brothers, Shawn Bates and Richard Bates both Franklin, NC and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his father he, was preceded in death by one brother, Michael Bates.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 17, 2012 at 2:30 pm at East Franklin Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Matthews and Rev. Bob Lambert officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kayleb Bates, Seth Williamson, Steven Williamson, Jimmy Rogers, David Bingham, Carroll Sanders and Josh Bates.

The family will receive friends Thursday, from 1:30 until 2:30 pm, one hour prior to the service, at the church. The body will remain at Bryant-Grant Funeral Home until being placed in the church one hour prior to the service.
