Mozelle (Cody) Roper

Mrs. Mozelle Cody Roper, 93, passed away Tuesday, January 18, 2022. Mrs. Roper was born March 11, 1928 in Graham, Co. NC to the late Virgil Jackson Cody and Della Mae Bradshaw Cody.  Mozelle worked for 55 years in Gastonia, NC for several cotton mills; she got her drivers license when she was 68 years old; she loved her soaps for the past 75 years listening to them on the radio and finally TV. She moved to Macon County 30 years ago and has loved being here with her family and sewing and loving the smokey mountain life. She was also of the Southern Baptist faith.

Survivors include her children, Kenny Messer (Beth Hart) of Franklin, NC; three daughters, Barbara Roper, Jackie Lynn Hagan, and, Juanita McDonald all of Gastonia, NC; 8 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Mozelle is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Roper.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date with family.
