Nancy Carol Tallent

Nancy Carol Hunter Tallent, 80 of North Charleston, SC passed away to be with the Lord Wednesday May 13, 2026. Nancy was surrounded by loving family and compassionate caregivers at the time of her passing. Nancy was the loving wife of the late US Air Force Senior Master Sergeant Wayne Reese Tallent. Wayne and Nancy were married for 57 years prior to his passing in 2020.

Nancy was born in Franklin, NC on January 6th,1946. The fifth of ten children born to the late Thomas (T) Hudson Hunter, and the late Eunice Allena Singleton Hunter. Nancy graduated from Franklin High School in 1963. Nancy and Wayne were married in Walhalla, SC on September 16th, 1963. Their family grew to three sons and their assignments with the US Air Force took the family to multiple locations before arriving to Charleston Air Force Base. Nancy and her family remained in North Charleston, SC, after Wayne's retirement from the US Air Force in 1983. She worked for multiple decades in the medical administrative field. First at the Charleston AFB Clinic, Trident Cardiology and finally the Center for Occupational & Environmental Medicine.

Nancy was an active member of Salem Baptist Church in Summerville, SC. She was a pianist and played piano for Salem Baptist Church for more than 25 years prior to her passing. Playing the piano was a passion for Nancy. She started taking lessons as a young girl, began again as a young woman and played for the vast majority of her life. Nancy was one of the kindest and most compassionate people anyone would ever meet in their lifetime. She was always there supporting her family, church, neighbors and friends. She loved God, church activities, shopping, keeping up with her siblings, in laws, cousins, nephews and nieces. She had very special relationships with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Being a grandmother (Nana) and great-grandmother brought her tremendous joy. She cherished all of those relationships.

In addition to her husband Wayne and her parents, Nancy was predeceased by 3 siblings. Her sister Helen Reynolds, brother Bob Hunter and brother Ed Hunter.

Nancy is survived by her sons, Keenan Tallent of Greenwood, SC. Warren Tallent of Hanahan, SC and Bryan Tallent (Donna) of Goose Creek, SC. Former Daughter in Laws, Janie Felkel, Natalie Emily, Beth Tallent and Dawn Phillips. Five granddaughters, Brittney, Lauren, Devin, Kaitlyn, Ashley and their spouses. Two grandsons, Kenny, Aaron and their spouses. Ten great-granddaughters and five great-grandsons. Nancy is survived by six siblings. Her brother Tom Hunter of Franklin, NC. Brother Frank Hunter (Sue) of Franklin, NC. Sister June Jones of Sandy Springs, GA. Brother Walter Hunter (Terri) of Franklin, NC. Brother David Hunter (Patty) of Franklin, NC. Sister Dinah Hunter of Sylva, NC.

Nancy is also survived by former sister-in-law Doris Hunter of Franklin, NC. Sister-in-law Brenda Ramey of Tiger, GA. Brother-in-law Tim Tallent of Atlanta, GA and many loving cousins, nieces and nephews. Special thanks to her friend Betty Jo Bartlett Harper of Summerville, SC. Special recognition to all the health care professionals and caregivers who took loving care of Nancy in the last few months of her life. Their efforts and compassion were invaluable to Nancy and her family.

Local arrangements are being managed by Simplicity, Ladson, SC. A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday 19 May 2026 at Salem Baptist Church, 321 Old Summerville Road, Summerville, SC 29486. Visitation will begin at 2:30PM. The Memorial Service will begin at 3:30PM. Donations to Salem Food Trust, 321 Old Summerville Road, Summerville, SC 29486 in memory of Nancy Tallent will be gladly accepted. Final arrangements are being provided by Bryant-Grant Funeral Home, 105 West Main Street, Franklin, NC 28734. A Memorial Service will be at Bryant-Grant Funeral Home in Franklin, NC on Friday 22 May 2026. Visitation will begin at 1:00PM. The Memorial Service will begin at 2:00PM. Graveside burial at Woodlawn Cemetery, Franklin, NC will be directly after the service.
