Neil Frank Oviak

Neil Frank Oviak, 82, of Franklin, NC passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2024. He was born June 4, 1942, in Michigan to the late Frank and Margaret Odgers Oviak.

During his lifetime Neil worked for the federal government. For those who knew him more recently, he is remembered as one who loved the outdoors, hiking, and studying maps. As a member of Resurrection Lutheran Church (RLC) in Franklin, Neil attended worship service regularly often walking (of his own volition) seven miles one way from his residence. In addition, he carried a fully loaded full size backpack when walking in and around the town of Franklin (and surrounding areas). We at RLC will miss him, a most unique and independent man.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, November 10, 2024, at 1:00pm at the Resurrection Lutheran Church with Rev. Glenn Roseman officiating, Rev. Dr. John Brunner, Pastor Emeritus preaching. A graveside service will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Franklin, NC.

In lieu of memorials folks are encouraged to donate to or bring a food item for CareNet of Macon County, NC.
