Oda Delphine Morris

Franklin, NC - Oda Delphine Morris, age 90, of Franklin, NC passed away Thursday, September 6, 2012. Born in Macon County, she was the daughter of the late Joseph D. and Allie Mae Byrd Hastings.

Mrs. Morris was a retired Civil Service worker with the Department of the Air Force; she was a member of Cartoogechaye Baptist Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother; her family and friends thoroughly enjoyed her cooking.

She is survived by her daughter, Avis McLemore and husband George of Franklin, NC; her brother, J. D. Hastings and wife JoAnn of Warner Robins, GA; three grandchildren, Sherry Dawson and husband David of Perry, GA, David McLemore of Warner Robins, GA and Steven McLemore of Bonaire, GA; ten great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren; three nephews and one niece. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a sister, Opal Hash and a daughter, Mavis Carlotta Morris.

Funeral services will be held Monday, September 10, 2012 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Bryant-Grant Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Dryman and Rev. Josh Brooks officiating. Burial will be in Gillespie Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Seth Dawson, Daniel McClelland, Scott Hastings, Alan Hastings, Jonathan Byrd and Charlie Byrd.

The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 at Bryant-Grant Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Gillespie Chapel Cemetery Fund, c/o Edith Byrd, 1765 N. Jones Creek Rd., Franklin, NC 28734.
