Opal (Bryson) Mccall

Opal Bryson McCall, 93, of Highlands, NC, went home to be with the Lord November 10, 2024.

Opal was born June 5, 1931, in Macon County, NC to the late James Lawrence Bryson and Ellie Lazelle Talley Bryson.  She was a member of Blue Valley Baptist Church where she served as secretary.  She worked for Mack's family for many years. Opal was very independent; she loved to cook and loved her family especially her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by three sons, James "Jimmy" Edward McCall (Nancy), Emory Wayne McCall (Becky), and Gary McCall; eight grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren; sister, Mae Ivester (Dennis); and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Amos Edward McCall and a son, Stevie William McCall.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Blue Valley Baptist Church, with Rev. Oliver Rice and Rev. Zane Talley officiating.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 pm prior to the service at the church.  Burial will follow at Clear Creek Community Cemetery.  Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
