Ora Evelyn Cheek Wykle

Franklin, NC - Ora Evelyn Cheek Wykle, age 87, of Franklin, NC, passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2013. She was born in Macon County, the daughter of the late Will and Jane Sorrells Cheek. She was married to Frank Wykle, who passed away in 1970. She had worked at Burlington Industry, and was a member of the Franklin Church of God, where she was a Leader for YPE and a former Sunday School Teacher.

She is survived by her children, Ray Cheek and his wife Martha of Charlotte, NC, Ann Johnson Iverster and her husband Edward, of Clarkesville, GA, Howard Johnson and his wife Judy of Turnersville, GA, Janie Wykle Waldroop and her husband Claude of Franklin, NC, Eddie Wykle and his wife, Sue of Lakemont, GA, step daughter, Colleen Wykle Philbeck and her husband Ed of Kings Mountain, NC and step son, Everett Wykle and his wife Rebecca of Lenoir City, TN; two sisters, Anne Sanders of Cornelia, GA and Helen Jacobs of Clayton, GA; three brothers, Jim Cheek and Jack Cheek both of Franklin, NC and Don Cheek of Turnersville, GA; 14 grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren also survive.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Tilley and Margie Baldwin and four brothers, Sherrill Cheek, Gene Cheek, William "Bill" Cheek and Clyde Cheek.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 14, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the Franklin Church of God, with Rev.Thurman Jenkins, Rev. Hank Conner, Rev. David Hastings, and Rev. Jewell Gaines officiating. Burial will be in Union United Methodist Church Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Friday evening at the Church.
