Oyd Ricky "Rick" Thornton

Oyd Ricky Thornton, 73, of Franklin, NC passed away January 20, 2024.  He was born July 8, 1950 to the late O. C. Thornton and Christine Thomas Thornton.

Mr. Thornton was a proud graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi which led him to becoming a School Teacher.  He loved his family and enjoyed traveling in his RV with his wife, especially the beaches of the gulf coast.  In his later years, he enjoyed time with friends living at Rolling Acres.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Ruth Thornton, a step-son Jeff Gischel, and a Brother, Ronald Thornton.  He is survived by a step-son, Greg Gischel and his wife Robin, his sister and her husband, Lynn and Marshall Davis, and two grandchildren, Sophie Gischel and Gage Gischel.
