Franklin - Paul Fred Jackson Mathis, 74, of Franklin, NC passed away Friday, May 20, 2011 in Asheville. He was a native of Macon County, the son of the late William A. and Maggie Frizzell Mathis. Paul was a retired construction worker and was of the Baptist Faith. He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Surviving are three daughters, Vicky Abell and husband Robert of Hollywood, MD; Linda Campbell and husband Johnny and Carolyn Gibson all of Franklin, NC; three sons, Fred, Harold and Tommy Mathis all of Franklin, NC; three sisters, Nolita Angel and Hassie Nichols of Franklin, NC and Mamie Biddix of Sylva, NC. Twenty-two grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 26 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Bryant-Grant Funeral Home with the Rev. John Raby officiating. Burial will be in the Cowee Baptist Church Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends Thursday from 1:00 - 2:00 pm, one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home.
