Phillip Olan Pittman

Franklin, NC - Phillip Olan Pittman, age 58, of Rainbow Springs Road, Franklin, NC passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at an Asheville Hospital. He was born in Avery County, NC, the son of the late Oscar L. and Hattie Carlton Buchanan Pittman. He served 8 years in the US Airforce and served in Vietnam during 1969 and 1970. He was a Church Sexton for the First United Methodist Church. He enjoyed his work at the Church and the many friends he met. Phillip was a loving father and grandfather. He was a member of Mtn. View Baptist Church in Black Mountain, NC

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Mary Waldroop Pittman; three sons, Nathan Lee Pittman and his wife, Jennifer Lee of Ft. Stewart, GA, Steven Phillip Pittman and his wife, Tewe of Albermarle, NC and Paul Eli Pittman of Franklin, NC; one sister, Clara Turner of Black Mountain, NC, one brother, Paul Pittman of Clyde, NC; four grandchildren, Damien Pittman, Felicia Pittman, Austin Emerson and Blake Pittman.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, March 13 at 3:00 PM at the First Methodist Church with Rev. Wayne Allen, Rev. Marti Hatch, Dr. Jeff Patterson and Rev. Thomas Griffis officiating.

The family will receive friends following the service in the Fellowship Hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Center for Vietnam Veterans, PO Box 2327, Franklin, NC 28744.
