R. L Roper

Franklin, NC - R L   Roper, age 82, of Windy Gap Road, Franklin, NC passed away Saturday, July 31, 2010 at a local hospital. He was a native of Macon County, the son of the late Cling and Clemmie Rosetta Rowland Roper. He worked at the Lang Company and was a butcher for Oscar Ledford. He was a member of Windy Gap Baptist Church. He loved gardening, mowing grass, and cutting wood.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Willie Mae Griffin Roper; one son, Ronnie Roper and his wife Loretta; four grandchildren; Krystal, Kasey, Troy, and Kaitlyn Roper; One Brother C. B. Roper of Franklin, NC He Was preceded in death by four sisters, Bertha Stewart, Cora Queen and a half-sister, Ethel Welch and Maude Queen; brothers Shirley Darrell Roper, and half brothers, Carol Roper , Bronce Roper, T C Roper and Dalton Rowland.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday August 4, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Windy Gap Baptist Church with the Revs. Mark Bishop, Johnny Raby, and John Roper. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM Tuesday August 3, 2010 at Bryant-Grant Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Troy and Michael Roper, Bobby Peek, Bryan Browning, Mark Holland. Honorary pallbearers will be James Teem, Harley Potts, Edgar Younce, and Danny Rogers. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
