Ray Keith Postell

Andrews, NC - Ray Keith Postell, 74, of Andrews passed away Sunday, May 4, 2014. Born in Cherokee County, he was the son of the late Marvin and Grace Dockery Postell. He was a retired inspector for Chrysler Corporation, loved building houses with Donald Cross and Alan Kirby and loved all sports. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and loved being with his family. He was a member of Red Marble Baptist Church in Andrews.

Mr. Postell is survived by his wife of 55 years, Shirley Owenby Postell; two daughters, Donna Roper of Nantahala and Patty Postell and husband David of Andrews; two sisters, Mildred Trantham of Rising Sun, MD and Helen West of Andrews; three brothers, Jerry Postell, Lonnie Postell and Otis Postell all of Andrews; five grandchildren, Travis Roper, Kristen Daniels, Nathan Postell, Justin Postell and Kayla Postell and five great grandchildren, Chelsea, Liam, Thatcher and Mason Daniels and Gracelyn Postell. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son in law, Thomas Roper; sister, Cathy Postell and his infant brother.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at 7:00 pm at Red Marble Baptist Church with Rev. David Postell and Rev. Mickey Stewart officiating. Burial will be held Thursday, May 8 at 11:00 AM in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be nephews, Boyd Trantham, David West, Jason Postell, Keith Owenby, Bobby Owenby and Timmy Owenby. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 4:00 7:00 pm, three hours prior to the service, at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Red Marble Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Martha Postell, 1201 Red Marble Road, Andrews, NC 28901.
