Mr. Raymond Leo Behr passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at the age of 85 in Franklin, North Carolina. He was born on December 20, 1938, in Miami Beach, Florida, to the late Joseph Behr and Marie Buchner Behr.
Mr. Behr was an unwavering practitioner of the Catholic faith. He was a Veteran of the United States Army. Raymond retired from Bell South Telephone Company in 1991 after 32 years of service. During his tenure he received a United States Patent for an invention of a device for remotely monitoring and testing the performance of telephone circuits. Through the years he had many hobbies including farming, camping, collecting and cutting gemstones and at separate times held the titles of Manager and Treasurer of the Franklin Gem and Mineral Museum.
Raymond will be missed by his loving wife of 57 years, Linda McPherson Behr. He is also survived by Son, Michael (Sheila) Behr, Mount Airy, GA; Son, Thomas (Amanda) Behr, North Augusta, South Carolina; Granddaughters, Katrina (Jesse) Vancherie ; Brooke Behr; Rayna Behr; Grandson, Wyeth Behr; and Great Granddaughter, Charlotte Vancherie; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, with Father Tien officiating.
