Robert James Bryson

Robert James Bryson, 85, of Franklin, NC passed away on Tuesday, October 11, 2016.  Born in Macon County, he was the son of the late J. Fred and Stella Morgan Bryson.

Mr. Bryson was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Korean Conflict and was a life member of VFW. He was employed several years for the NC Forest Service prior to going to work for the US Postal Service. Following his retirement from the Postal Service, he volunteered for Meals on Wheels for 20 years. His hobbies included woodworking, hiking and boating.  He was a charter member of Memorial United Methodist Church where he served in many areas of the church.

Mr. Bryson is survived by his wife of 64 years, Sarah Lee Waldroop Bryson; sisters‑in law, Alda Ferris (Everett) of Franklin, Carolyn Smith (Paul) of Clemmons, NC and Alma Bryson of Franklin and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Linda Susan Bryson and Robin Lee Bryson and a brother, Edward Bryson.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 11:00 am at Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Susan German officiating. The family will greet friends following the service.
