Otto, NC - Robert Randolph Cowart, 83, of Otto, NC passed away Sunday, April 21, 2013. A native of Macon County, he was the son of the late Frank Robert and Mae Belle Williamson Cowart. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was a member of Franklin VFW Post #7339 and American Legion Post #108. He was a long distance truck driver and liked to fish.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Illa Kay Morgan Cowart; the mother of his children, Evelyn Brown Carpenter; one daughter, Glenda Diane Wood of Otto; three sons, Robert Randall Cowart and wife Rhonda of Franklin, James Michael Cowart of Otto, and Joseph William Cowart of Otto; four stepsons, Ronald Lamar SantAnglo and wife DeeDee of Vero Beach, FL, Joseph Walter SantAnglo of Royal Palm Beach, FL, Daniel Lawrence SantAnglo and wife Carla of Lorida, FL and Jason Paul SantAnglo and wife Cheryl Ann of Otto; one sister, Dorothy May Scott of Franklin; three brothers, William Frederick Cowart, Ernest Earl Cowart and Jesse James Cowart all of Franklin; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Passmore and three brothers, R. L. Cowart, Junior Hill Cowart and Wiley Roger Cowart.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Bryant Grant Funeral Home with Rev. Davis Hooper officiating. Burial will be in Rush Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Robert Joshua Cowart, Michael Justin Cowart, Chris Bradley, Gary Scott, Robert "Bobby" Cowart, and Keith Cowart. Franklin VFW Post #7339 and American Legion Post #108 will perform complete military graveside rites.
The family will receive friends, Wednesday from 1:00 2:00 pm, one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
