Mr. Robert “Bob” Howard Mills, 70, of Franklin, North Carolina, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, September 12, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones. Bob was born August 30, 1956, in Marion, Alabama, to the late Howard Elmore Mills and Mary Lydia Carr Mills.
A devoted servant of God, Bob lived a life that was a beautiful testament to his faith. He didn’t just speak about his beliefs; he walked his faith out daily. He deeply loved the Lord, cherished reading his Bible, and found immense joy in fellowship and being active in his church community. A man with a servant’s heart, he never met a stranger—but if you were to ask him, he was an introvert. He always looked for ways to lift others up and put their needs before his own.
Beyond his dedication to ministry and community, Bob had a passion for life and a wide variety of hobbies. He loved to fish, play chess, and enjoyed spending time shooting guns, particularly when bird hunting. On autumn Saturdays, you could always find him cheering on his beloved Alabama Crimson Tide, Roll Tide! He also loved firing up the grill and bringing family and friends together over a good meal that was often cooked by Bob himself.
Anyone who knew him can attest: if you weren’t early to an event, you were late.
Above all, he was a wonderful, loving dad who loved his family dearly and genuinely loved people. He absolutely adored his grandchildren and great-grandson, leaving them with cherished memories of unconditional love, laughter, and faith.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his “mom,” Margie Ruth Webb Mills; and his wife, Pamela Sue Mullins Mills, who passed away in 2018.
Survivors include his children, Amanda Mills Mulkey (Todd) and Michael Mills (Dana); his grandchildren, Allison Mills White (Jake), Gavin Mills (Ashton), and Avery McGaha Fetrat (Raphi); his great-grandson, Atticus “Rhett” White; a brother, Gene Bixler; a sister, Pat Franklin; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, September 20, 2026, in the Grant Chapel of Bryant-Grant Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00 PM prior to the service. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
Bryant-Grant Funeral Home & Crematory is honored to serve the Mills family.
