Mr. Robert Lee "R.L." Gibson, 75, was chosen by God to enter Heaven on Thursday, June 26th, 2025. He was born in Macon County on July 11th, 1950. He was the son of the late George and Margie Hooper Gibson. He was also preceded in death by one brother-in-law, Mike Holland; his mother and father-in-law, V.L. and Pearl Holland; and two nieces, Heather and Ashley Jennings.
R.L. retired from Macon Co. School Maintenance Program. After that he and a good friend, Tom Ash, did odd jobs for people, mostly painting. He loved listening to Blue Grass and Gospel music and going to Pickin' on the Square on Saturdays. He thought he had to start his day with a bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit from McDonalds.
R.L. was survived by one son, Gary Gibson; his wife, Tammie; three granddaughters, Madelyn Gibson, Hailey Owens (Jacob), Makayla Ramey (Thomas); two great-grandchildren, Oliver and Adeline; three brothers, J.D. Gibson (Helen), Isaac Gibson (Freda), Bobby Gibson (Margie); and two sisters, Mary Wiggins (Jim) and Shirley Jennings (Vance).
A Funeral Service will be held Monday, June 30, 2025, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Bryant-Grant Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Sugarfork Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30-2:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Keith Brown, Alvin Mashburn, Brannon Gerber, Caleb Gibson, Mike Wilson, and Jacob Owens.
