Franklin, NC - Robert "Tude" Rogers McCoy, age 67, of Hughes Lane, Franklin passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2011 in an Asheville hospital. A native of Macon County, he was the son of the late William Carl and Emma Dehart McCoy. He was married to Rita Ann Pendergrass McCoy for thirty-three years. He owned McCoys Crane Service; was a loving husband, father and grandfather; was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves and was a beekeeper. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church and attended Mt. Sinai Assembly of God.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Amanda McCoy Benedict and husband Jared and Sheila McCoy of Franklin, NC; one son, Donnie Marion of Franklin, NC; one sister Maxine Bradley of Franklin, NC and one brother, Claude McCoy and wife Brenda of Durand, MI. He is also survived by four grandchildren including Leighton Benedict and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister, Joann Hopkins and one brother, Dick McCoy.
Funeral services will be held, Saturday, March 5, 2011 at 2:00 pm at Oak Grove Baptist Church with Rev. John Raby and Rev. Judson Hall officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Bill Hughes, Dwayne Holland, Jerry Shope, Jim Brown, Eddie Simonds and Marvin Mason. Honorary pallbearers will be Neville Clark, Gene Pickens, Ricky Dehart and Randy Dehart. The family will receive friends Friday, March 4, 2011 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Bryant-Grant Funeral Home where the body will remain until being placed in the church thirty minutes prior to the service.
