Franklin, NC - Robert Terry Shields, age 69, of Franklin, NC, passed away, Wednesday, April 22, 2015. He was born in Macon County, the son of the late James Garland Shields and Ila Mae Gray Shields. He had worked as a proof finisher for a Chemical Plant for twenty two years and at Tekton in Franklin for 14 years. He loved working, hunting, fishing and bowling. He was a member of Mt. Hope Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of thirty five years, Bena Lee McClure Shields, one son, Ross Dale Shields and his wife Kathy of Franklin, NC; step daughter, Cindy Stewart and her husband Ray of Cramerton, NC; step son, Keith Hagan and his wife Tracy of Franklin, NC; and adopted son, Don Shields of High Point, NC; two sisters, Jean Sanders of Franklin, NC and Glenda Cowart of Maggie Valley, NC; three grandchildren, Ben Hagan, Morgan Lindberg and Rochelle Copeland and three great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 25, 2015 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Bryant Grant Funeral Home, with Rev. Steve Reeves officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Keith Hagan, Ben Hagan, Jerry McClure, Mark McClure, Damian Copeland and Andrew Copeland.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 pm, one hour prior to the service at Bryant Grant Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association, 514 Daniels St. #109, Raleigh, NC 27605.
