Franklin - Robert Edward Wiley (Bob), age 75, of Franklin, North Carolina, died suddenly on Monday, October 27, 2014. He was born in Ballston Spa, NY, July 23, 1939. He married Nancy Bild in 1961, in Miami, FL, and together they built a wonderful life full of family, friends, and adventure.

Mr. Wiley obtained a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree at Georgia Tech and was commissioned in the Army after graduation. He earned a Master of Business Administration degree at Georgia State University.
He worked for the Coca-Cola Company as a professional engineer for 30 years. After retirement, he worked with the startup of the new city of Sandy Springs, GA. Once moving to Franklin, NC, he served as chairman of the beautification committee for the Franklin Garden Club and was in charge of the maintenance of the two town squares. He was a member and treasurer of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Franklin, NC. He served in the U.S. Army for five years and was stationed in Germany and Vietnam as an Army Captain. They lived in Florida, Georgia, and North Carolina. He led the building of bottling plants for Coca-Cola in Russia, South Africa, China, the Philippines,Venezuela,and Ireland. Among his many hobbies were wood working and gardening.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Nancy Bild Wiley, who resides in Franklin, NC; son, Edward Robert Wiley, married to Sarah Denham Wiley, two grandsons, Robert Edward Wiley and Samuel Charles Wiley, all of Atlanta, GA; son, Charles Hammond Wiley, and wife, Suzan, of Marietta, GA; three brothers: Walter Wiley of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, William Wiley of Santa Clara, CA, and Ronald Wiley of The Villages, FL; and seven nieces and nephews.

Visitation is November 1, 2014, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church at 1:00 p.m. The Celebration of Life service starts at 2:00 p.m. with reception to follow. Long-time friend and Pastor Dr. Phillip Kuehnert of Williamsburg, VA, will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that donations be sent to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 235 Sloan Rd, Franklin, NC 29734.
