Franklin, NC - Roger Lee Seay, Sr., age 75, of Franklin, NC passed away Monday, September 19, 2011 in a Sylva hospital. Born in Macon County, he was the son of the late Arvey B. and Mary Williams Seay. He was a 1954 graduate of Franklin High School. Sucessful in business, he owned and operated Seays Farm and Garden for thirty-five years; loved the outdoors especially farming; his cattle, horses and beagles. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Well respected in the community, Roger was an active member of Wells Grove Baptist Church where he was a Deacon and former Sunday School Superintendent and member of Junaluska Masonic Lodge #145.
He is survived and loved very much by his wife of fifty-four years, Bobbie Burch Seay; two daughters, Cassandra "Susie" Woleslagle and husband Rick and Teresa Seay and husband Lloyd Cox all of Franklin, NC; one son, Roger L. Seay, Jr and wife Elizabeth of Franklin, NC; one sister, Frances Teague of Franklin, NC and three brothers, John Seay and Howard Seay both of Franklin, NC and James C. Seay of Hendersonville, NC. Four grandchildren, Rhys McVicker, Mary Margaret Seay, Adam Woleslagle and Aaron Woleslagle also survive. He was also loved by a number of nieces and nephews who survive.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 22, 2011 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Bryant-Grant Funeral Home, with Rev. Terry Dixon and Rev. Cecil Frady officiating. Burial will be at Wells Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Nephews will serve as pallbearers, Ronnie Ledford, Clinton Ledford, David Lee Seay, Horace Seay, Tim Teague, and Lewis William Seay, Jr.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Wednesday evening at Bryant-Grant Funeral Home.
