Ruby Allen Poindexter

Ruby Allen Poindexter, 92, of Franklin, NC, passed away Monday, January 5, 2026. Ruby was born April 16, 1933 in Macon County to the late Tom and Eva McMahan Allen. Ruby was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. She worked in the cafeteria for Macon County Schools until her retirement. Ruby loved gardening, taking care of her many flowers, cooking for people, and crafting. She especially loved her family and was Mama, Granny Ruby and Honey to her children and grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Harvey Poindexter; two sisters, Ollie Mae Hurst and Betty Sue McConnell; four brothers, Furman Allen, Lloyd Allen, Grady Allen and Ralph Allen; and a son-in-law, Rev. Edwin Crisp.

She is survived by three daughters, Carolyn Crisp (Curley), Peggy Donald (Bill) and Sheila Corbin (Sammy); brother, John Allen (Betty); sister, Linda Passmore; grandchildren, Misty Crisp, Allen Corbin (Autumn), Heidi Bowman (Michael), Derek Crisp (Kelly) and Amy Cox (Chad); great-grandchildren, Breanna Crisp, McKenzee Heath (Nate), Rylee Gibson (Blake), Hunter Bowman, Peyton Bowman, Bentlee Corbin, Sadie Cox, Ava Kate Cox and Hallie Crisp; great-great-grandchildren, Harper Heath and Huxtyn Gibson.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, January 8, 2026, at 2:00 pm in the Grant Chapel at Bryant-Grant Funeral Home, with Rev. Davis Hooper and Joey Gibson officiating. Burial will be in Burningtown Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 till 2:00 pm Thursday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
